Help to Study
Effective study habits lead to academic success. Here are valuable tips to help you study better.
Start with the Difficult
Take up first the subject you most dislike, once you have done this rest of your work will be easy.
Ask for Help
Do not hesitate to ask your teacher or your clever companions things you do not grasp clearly. Never leave difficulties unanswered as this will put you in greater difficulties later.
Teach to Learn
Pretend that you are explaining the lesson to another to see if you can do it well.
Self-Questioning
Make yourself your own teacher and question yourself and answer honestly (don't cheat).
Take Breaks
Do not continue working when you are tired; walk around the garden, or talk to a friend or have some other pleasant interruption, but only long enough to refresh your lessons and not tending to waste time.
Physical Exercise
Get enough physical exercise everyday, it keeps the mind fresh.
Proper Sleep
Do not cut down necessary sleep in order to study. It may harm your health.
Pray for Guidance
Pray often to the all-wise and all-knowing God to help you to make progress in your studies.
Don't Miss Lessons
Never omit the lesson or homework assigned, if you do, it is like missing a train that you can never catch afterwards.
Daily Revision
Daily revise the work done in class, and make sure that you have understood everything clearly and thoroughly.
Memory Work
If memory work is assigned learn it overnight and repeat it first thing in the morning.
Note Taking
Always note down in your diary the work that is assigned for the next day.
Weekly Revision
Revise at the end of the week all that was taught during the week.
High Expectations
If you don't keep high expectations in front of yourself, you will probably settle for something less. High expectations lead to high performance, and low expectation to low performance.
